Payments in the national currency
In accordance with Decision No. 158 of the Executive Board of the NBM dated June 16, 2016, published in the Official Gazette No. 184–192 dated July 1, 2016, starting August 1, 2016, the Bank will accept for execution only payment orders of the new type, which contain the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) when making or receiving transfers in Moldovan lei. It will be mandatory to specify the IBAN codes for both the payer and the payee, and the Bank will not process payment orders that contain current account numbers in any other format.
