Between March 27 and April 2, the employees of Victoriabank and the little experts from “Vasile Vasilache” theoretical lyceum shared information on the value of money, savings management, origin of the national currency, famous people on banknotes and many other educational information in order to familiarize children with the notion of money, bank, saving and other aspects of financial literacy. Thus, during the International Financial Education Week, an annual global event, coordinated by the National Bank of Moldova and Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) organisation, Victoriabank offered children the chance not only to attend the classes and study the theory, but also benefit from a great practical training: see and even use a cash counting machine, contemplate a bank card, being involved in discussions about its benefits or admire a commemorative coin issued by the NBM.
Winter holidays are the most awaited by children and every child hopes to find a gift under the Christmas tree. The employees of VICTORIABANK made the holiday special for the little children of Chisinau municipal orphanage. They brought them sweets, fruits, clothes, books and toys. The car full of gifts reached the destination just when the celebration had begun. Children were singing Christmas carols, reciting poems and dancing, brining light and joy to the souls of all who were present. VICTORIABANK initiates such charitable actions every year in order to offer children a home-like holiday.
Victoriabank has always considered involvement in cultural and social activities of the community as one of its priorities. During the period of March 14-20, within the International Financial Education Week, which aims at teaching children and youth how to manage, save and multiply their money, as well as perform financial inclusion of students, Victoriabank organized a surprise event for a group of 28 children aged 5-7. Children visited the Victoriabank’s headquarters, where bank employees told them about the origin of money, the symbols and the value of the national currency, as well as about the most innovative means of keeping and managing money - bank cards. Interactive activities based on questions and answers had a positive effect on children’s perception of money and importance of money. At the end of the guided tour, the little guests were offered gifts from Victoriabank.
On February 27, 2016, the HOSPICE Angelus Table Tennis Tournament was held, a charitable event for incurable patients, children and adults, with diseases in advanced and terminal stages. Bank employees evolved as tennis players alongside other companies, non-governmental organizations and embassies in the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the amount collected during the event will be directed to provide free medical, social and psycho-emotional care services within the Hospice Angelus. Victoriabank has always considered the involvement in social responsibility activities and projects as one of its main missions.
During the winter holidays, the acts of generosity of Victoriabank employees brought joy and happiness to the children of Chisinau Municipal Orphanage. Children had a great holiday party with gifts and many funny activities. Every little child got a bag of clothes, toys, sweets and fruits. The Bank employees, present at the event, had a memorable experience, full of special moments. The contribution of Victoriabank’s team certainly brought to the children’s souls much joy and hope for a better and more beautiful life. Every donation makes a dream come true. On Saturday, October 24, 2015, the second edition of the socio-cultural event Generosity Gala took place. It was organized by the CCF Moldova - Children, Community, Families and Hope and Homes for Children of the UK (HHC). The purpose of the event was raising funds for supporting orphan children. The unprecedented action was supported by several generous companies, including Victoriabank. All the funds raised at the event were aimed at supporting children from CCF/HHC Moldova programs, in particular to finance the completion of the construction of the first community shelter in Chisinau, "Casa Viitorului", where 12 abandoned children with severe disabilities will live. The event brought together celebrities who came to support CCF/HHC Moldova mission, such as Valentina Naforniţa together with her husband, baritone and Vienna Opera singer, Mihai Dogotari, Chisinau Youth Orchestra and the International Romanian pianist, Sergiu Tuhutiu.
During the period of May 22-24, in Chisinau was organised, for the first time, the international intellectual competition “Znatokiada 2015”. Victoriabank supported financially the event, and also encouraged the participants in the competition. The event brought together over 40 teams from all around the world and famous personalities such as Maxim Potashev, Ilia Novikov and many other elite club stars, experts from Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Romania and Bulgaria. Victoriabank contributes to the intellectual progress of our country and encourages the young generation to participate in such kind of competitions.
On April 25, the First Bank of Moldova awarded the winners of the “Letter to Mother” national literary creation contest, thus supporting the young talents in our country. The contest, organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the General Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau Municipal Council, the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Moldova, the “Platforma Socrate” Association and the Russian Cultural Centre, was attended by 2500 competitors, students of gymnasium and lyceum classes, speakers of Romanian and Russian languages. The contest aimed at revealing young talents and raise society’s awareness of seeing the woman-mother in a different light.
