Resident and non-resident individuals have the opportunity to benefit from the servicing of their current accounts in foreign currency. Current accounts in foreign currency are opened upon submission of the identity card, passport or any other documents replacing it. The foreign currency accounts of resident individuals could be supplied with: a) cash foreign currency / traveller’s cheques in foreign currency; b) foreign currency associated with cheques issued by non-resident persons; c) foreign currency transferred from abroad on the name of the account holder; d) foreign currency transferred from another account of the same account holder opened at the same or another authorized bank; e) foreign currency obtained as a result of conversion of account holder’s money; f) the amounts of interest associated with these accounts; g) foreign currency transferred previously from the account of the resident individual and returned to this account; h) foreign currency which can be transferred into the foreign currency account of the resident individual as provided by the National bank of Moldova. The operations listed below could be performed from the foreign currency account of the resident individual: a) issue cash/traveller’s cheques in foreign currency; b) transfer foreign currency to another account of the same account holder opened at the same or another authorized bank; c) make, by different means (bank transfer, cheques (different from traveller’s cheques) in foreign currency, etc.), payments/transfers in compliance with the provisions of this Regulation, of other normative acts of the National Bank of Moldova; d) sell foreign currency to the authorized bank against other foreign currency / Moldovan Lei; e) return the foreign currency that was registered on the account by mistake; f) pay the commissions and interests in the favour of the authorized bank.
